A while back, a couple people did that "Leave a comment and I'll ask you 5 questions" meme. Finally got off my lazy ass and answered the questions I was asked, by slartibartfast and propernice respectively. Let me know if you would like ME to as YOU 5 questions. :)

Questions from slartibartfast
1. If you could be any character in any series, which would you be?
Doctor Who, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, or The Office.

2. How long have you been into fandom and LJ?
Oh wow, it's gotta be....six years, seven years?

3. What is your most irrational fear?
Dolls, probably.

4. Do you have a tattoo? If not, would you ever get one?
I have two, actually. :) "Dream" in Japanese on my lower left stomach, and a stitched-up blue heart surrounded by green flames on my right shoulder.

5. If you could change one thing about your life what would it be?
My job.

Questions from propernice
1. What is your silliest memory ever?
Probably something w/ my friend Eric, with us talking in weird voices and making fun of stuff/each other, just fooling around.

3. Do you use q-tips that have colored middles, or just plain white?
I have no preference, it just depends on what my gma's bought.

4. Would you ever feel comfortable wiping your bum with pink toilet paper?
Sure, why not. LOL. Tp is tp, right?

5.
So, let's talk House y'all.

1) I loved that for once, House's normal bullying shit didn't work overall. It was amazing to see him have to face consequences and deal with shit. I wish we could've seen more of him actually dealing with his issues, but. I like that he's no longer on vicodin, and I hope that sticks. I hope that his progress overall sticks. I hope that this storyline doesn't disappear.

2) I loved House's fellow patients. They were all so sweet and interesting and relatable. I thought it was actually a good thing that House was kind of isolated and alone, although I do think it was kind of OOC that Wilson didn't visit House at all.

3) Speaking of Wilson, THIS EPISODE NEEDED MOAR. Yeah, I'm maybe a little biased--what of it? The one scene he was in was great; the obvious heartbreak and wanting to help, the clutching of the phone to the breast. GUH.

4) I didn't mind the romance, really. That she was played by Franka Potente amuses me to no end (Elijah Wood' ex-girlfriend; I'm a huge Elijah fan from waaaaaaay back, for those of you not in the know). Anyway, of course it's awkward seeing Hugh in sex scenes because you KNOW he feels awkward.

5) I'm of the opinion that overall, this was a well-written episode, one of the best in a while. I'm trying to not get my hopes up at all, though.

I'm curious to hear what YOU guys thought, so gimme some feedback! :)

Now, I'm off to watch last night's Heroes and Castle<?i>.

Wow, it's been a while. I've recently become v.v. busy at work--getting a lot of hours, which means that much more money, but at the same time makes it v. difficult for me to look for a better, public-relations oriented job. I am finding some time for the job search though, and have actually started looking for jobs in New Orleans. A big change like that would be amazing.

Anyway, besides work and searching for a job, I haven't been up to a whole lot. Been hanging out w/ friends a couple times a week as usual, been loving/hating True Blood, and been furiously watching Bones; got into it through my friend bitch_on_fire and have been hooked since; trying to get caught up in time for the new season. Speaking of, getting very excited for a bunch of my shows to return!

Other than that....I've got some question memes to deal with, but am not feeling up to it atm. I haven't been up to reading a lot of fanfic lately either, which is....unlike me. I attribute it to how busy and.....aimless I've been.

More random stuff

1) I am totally, completely in love w/ Alexander Skarsgard. OMG.

2) Nancy Botwin of Weeds is pissing me the fuck off. JSYK.

3) I've been doing a lot of reading lately, which feels great. I read all the Sookie Stackhouse novels, the Dexter novels, and now I'm working on The Road. All the reading is making me feel nostalgic, because reading nigh 24/7 was how I spent my summers as a child.

4) Went to see my endocrinologist yesterday, for the first time in about a year and a half. I had high blood pressure, so they're gonna be monitoring that. They're also going to be monitoring my hearing; he noticed that I had trouble hearing him a couple times. I've know that my hearing isn't perfect for years now, but it's a little scary that they're going to start keeping an eye on it now. Also, got some bloodwork done, and he'll have the results to me in a few days.

1) First off, thank you to everyone who wished me a happy birthday. ♥ I had a fantastic birthday.

2) Getting more hours at work, which is good. Work has been getting better lately, which makes me v. happy. Still trying to find another job, but it's been difficult lately because of how busy I've been. I have one place I'm waiting to hear back from, and it would be INCREDIBLE if I got the job, so keep your fingers crossed for me.

3) Saw District 9 and was totally blown away by it. What a stunning film. Anyone out there seen it?

4) Getting into the show Bones. XD What a FUN show.

Writer's Block: Bite Me

From Dr. Polidori's Lord Ruthven to Stephenie Meyer's Edward Cullen, the annals of vampire lore are filled with attractive, charming bloodsuckers. Which one would you most want to be bitten by?

View 510 Answers

Oooh, what a GREAT question for the likes of me! Jeez, how does one choose? There are so many fascinating vampires out there. How does one judge? If I were judging based on who would look after me the best and hurt me the least with the biting, I would go with Anne Rice's Louis de Pointe du Lac or Joss Whedon's Angel. Beyond that, I wouldn't mind being bitten by Rice's Lestat de Lioncourt, Whedon's Spike, Eric Northman of True Blood/Sookie Stackhouse series fame, or Stephen Dorff's version of Deacon Frost.

XD

How would you choose to spend a totally free day? Well, it depends on how much money I've got. If money weren't a factor, it would probably involve horseback riding, reading, a bit of swimming, seeing a movie or marathoning a show a bit, and eating some of my favourite foods. All in the company of a few friends, of course.

What is the best film you've ever seen? You know, I can't really pinpoint my favourite or elevate one film above any other.
I'm an idiot, lol. I went for a walk w/ my dog yesterday evening. I decided to do it barefoot, because my feet ARE pretty tough and I like going barefoot. Well, a hobbit I am not, and it was a BIG mistake--I got a few huge blisters and rubbed some skin off the bottoms of my feet. I can barely walk today. *Hangs head in shame* Work should be quite interesting this afternoon, w/ me limping around.

AHAHAHA MY MOOD THEME'S PICTURE FOR SORE! IT'S DESTINY!

*snickers*

ANYWAY. I'm still in the market for someone to make me a header, if anyone's got a little time to spare. :>

Saw Hp:HBP last night, and imo it was brilliant. I was very happy w/ it, and thought it was a much better adaptation than HP:OoTP which had me ranting and raving w/in the first few minutes.

ANYWAY.

Feeling kinda humdrum today (maybe something to do w/ the 4 1/2 hours or so of sleep I got), but instead of what doing what I usually do (bum around the house) I'm making myself go out for a bit. I've got a book, and some Corn Nuts (nomnomnom), and I'm gonna buy myself a Pepsi and I'm gonna head....somewhere. Maybe the local library and adjoining park. I'll probably get a few books at the library, and maybe I'll rent a movie. I was kinda wanting to have an HP movie marathon, or a marathon of SOMETHING, so I'll figure that out and do that once I get back. I've got some fanfic to read, and I wanna take my dog out for an hour-long walk this evening, so. I've got a full day ahead of me, which is all for the good. Got a full day tomorrow too--gonna recycle some stuff, and then go to work.

Damn my life is boring. LOL.

P.S. Is there anyone graphically-inclined that would be willing to make me a header? I love my DOctor/Rose, but I'm ready for a change. I'd love to play around w/ my icons too, but my extra icon space ran out long ago and I've got a bunch that are frozen/inaccessable here on LJ.

Everyone and their mom has commented on season 3 of Torchwood, but I figured I'd throw my two cents in. Yes, the Jack/Ianto we got was absolutely gorgeous. Ianto's interactions w/ his family were fascinating. For the record, Ianto was my favourite character and one of the main reasons that I watched the show, and his death hit me very hard, as if I had suffered the loss of an actual friend. I've loved Ianto from the beginning because I saw a lot of myself, and a lot of who I'd like to be, in him.

Garreth is an incredible actor who did a lot w/ very little, especially at the beginning; it's truly testament to him that Ianto even lasted as long as he did because he became so popular. Yes, Ianto's death was kind of pointless, especially after hearing RTD's reasoning in the Torchwood Declassified or whatever it's called. It was sudden and painful, but it can definitely be said that Jack and Ianto's love for each other truly came through.

The last episode was SO hard to watch, not just because Ianto was gone but because of how dark it was; this is coming from someone who loved Battlestar Galactica, one of the darkest shows in recent memory. Everything that happened was just horrifying and devastating. It was all logical and it made sense, but it was just so hard-hitting.

Like most people in fandom, I feel that this should actually stand as the series finale for Torchwood; there should be no season 4. Everything wrapped up so nicely, and everything was....concluded so thoroughly that it would make more sense than continuing. I don't know if I'd watch it if they decided to have another season; it would depend on quite a few things.

I can't wait to hear all the reports from ComicCon, to hear what is said by actors/staff and by fans. I wish I was going!

P.S. Anyone else bummed that we don't know the fate of dear Andy? Things weren't looking good, but it would've been nice to find out for sure.

-So, third job didn't end up working out. They gave the job to someone else. Also, not gonna be doing my cleaning job for the next couple weeks, as the woman I work for is out of town. And here I was, thinking I might be able to get a little bit ahead, maybe pay off some bills and save a tiny bit of money.

-Been low, emotionally, the last week or so. Been comforting self with food. I've been doing that a while, actually. I've also been feeling pretty disconnected.

-My 24th birthday is coming up. On the one hand, YAY birthday. On the other hand, I'm gonna be 24, working 8 hours a week for $9, living w/ my gma, having some debt to my name.

Oh btw, my Amazon wishlist is at http://www.amazon.com/wishlist/2B6H5VWCYQC43 if anyone is so inclined. :>

-In fandomish news, I've been LOVING Torchwood. Edge-of-your-seat stuff, and the Janto has been terrific and very real. Also, got my ticket for the midnight showing of HP and the HBP; I've started getting excited for it the last couple weeks. I hadn't before that because I was so dissatisfied w/ OOtP.

So, I have three jobs now, because I am that desperate for money and I'm making that little at each job. I've got Crocs, of course--but now I'm also cleaning house for a woman once a week, and a week from today I start helping out @ an antique store my gma sells at. We'll see how I do working three jobs, but hopefully I'll be able to start paying off some bills and stuff like that and saving money. In the meantime, I am still looking for a professional, decent job.

In other news, I had an okay and uneventful fourth of July. I worked in the morning, and then a friend of mine had a party that I went to right after. I ended up getting a migraine; I dozed a lot, and left the party right after the fireworks were finished @ 9:15, but other than that, good times. It's funny--the last few months, my body has totally re-wired itself, in ways I don't like. I've gained weight (I'm 110 pounds right now, when I'd rather be 100), and I go to bed around 10:30-11pm and wake up around 7-8:30am. I used to be thin(ner) and a night owl, lol.

My little brother is visiting for the next couple weeks; his visit has been mostly uneventful so far, as he's mostly been gone w/ friends. I have a few little activities planned w/ him. It's nice, but also stressful, having him around. *Shrug* Him being around makes me miss my mom too.

LAYER ONE: On The Outside

Name: Brianna Courtney Bertrand
Birth date: 8/8
Birthplace: Ventura, CA
Current Location: My gma's house in Thousand Oaks, CA
Eye Color: Green/hazel
Hair Color: Blonde, on the ashy side.
Height: 4'11''
Righty or Lefty: Righty
Zodiac Sign: Leo

LAYER TWO: On The Inside

Your heritage: Mostly French and Native American
Shoes you wore today: Plain black platform sandals
Your weakness: Well, I've got many of 'em.

1. Reply to this post, and if you ask me to, I will pick six of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon glee.

giventofly37 chose:

Ugh, Jesse Spencer is so gorgeous. I love the coloring, cut, and angle of this icon, and the expression on Jesse's face.

This icon captures Doctor/Rose so well--their epicness, the fact that they're "the stuff of legend". I love the look of this icon.

Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith; I've gotta have an icon representin' in my collection, and I fell in love with this one. It feels like drowsy, early morning to me, if that makes sense.

Wesley. Wesleyyyyyy. The look on his face is so perfectly "Bitch, plz" I snicker every time I look at it. Perfection.

This icon is so perfectly representative of Gaius Baltar of BSG. The quote is perfect, the expression on his face, the dark coloring.....all of it connects to him and the fact that he's made a lot of mistakes.

I fell in love with this icon instantly. The composition is creative and beautiful, and the quote is lovely and connects to Charlie so well. I feel the same way a lot, so this icon is v. special to me.

Leave me a comment with "SRS BZNS - WHERE'S MY POPSICLE MARGARITA" in the subject line.

I'll respond by asking you five questions so I can get to know you better.
Update your journal with the answers to the questions.
Include this explanation in the post and offer to ask other people questions

From htbthomas:

1) How do you feel about your hometown/state? I love Thousand Oaks. It's a beautiful, safe, quiet little suburb/city. It's getting bigger by the year! It tries to be a little more upper class than it probably should, since we're very close to some very wealthy cities (Westlake Village), but that's my only real beef w/ my hometown. I love this place. Now, California on the other hand.....Where do I start? Overall, I'm not TOO fond of my home state, for a lot of reasons. We've got a lot of beautiful environment,a lot of diversity, it's true--but more of it is disappearing every year due to development, which disgusts me. We've got a horrible economy, ridiculously high taxes. It's so difficult to find any sort of job here, and cost of living is obscene. Politically, we're a very interesting state, and I love that we're so liberal--but of course, I'm not happy with Prop 8.

2) Do you have a philosophy of life? Not really. I kind of wish I did, because maybe it would give me some focus. I do believe that life is short and should be lived to the fullest and all that, but it's hard for me to really live that sometimes, if that makes sense.

3) What was the first thing YOU fangirled? The X-Files. :D

4) Where have you never traveled that you'd love to go? Any other country, and any city and state I haven't been to; for the record I've been to places in Nevada, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Louisiana, South Carolina, Oregon, and New York. I want to see anything/everything on the face of this planet. I love traveling, and there's SO much to explore.

5) Any goals for the next five years? Get a decent job, move out of my grandma's house, be in a sucessful relationship......

Now, if you'll 'scuse me, my little brother is here, with a friend of his. Also, I am deeply embroiled in my Sookie Stackhouse novel. Good lord, I'm just plowing through them!

P.S. Waking up at 4 am and not being able to fall back to sleep? Sucks.
P.P.S. You know what DOESN'T suck? Amish Friendship Bread. And triple chocolate brownies.

How am I?

At the moment--Sleep deprived, because I can't seem to stay asleep; I keep waking up around 3 am and tossing and turning for several hours. Sore, because I haven't been to the chiropractor in a while and I've been sleeping funny. Excited to watch James Callis in some new Sci-Fi Channel original movie in a couple hours. V. full because I can't control myself re: food.

Overall--Feeling kinda gross. Sick of losing friends. Unsure about what direction to go in to try to improve my life. LAME for not being able to decide!

Ugh, I suck you guys. I've totally fallen out of rythm w/ updating. LJ. I've been keeping up w/ the flist okay, thank goodness.

ANYWAY. Life.

Work's going okay. I got more hours this week. I am continuing my job search, though, because I'm definitely not making enough money and won't be for a while. My co-workers are the best thing about the job, and I just keep hoping I'll get to know them all better. I think I am. :)

Other than that, life's been crazy. I've been trying to figure out something else besides my job at Crocs--some other way to advance my life. Like getting my Master's, or joining the National Guard. The Master's degree helps if I want to teach, which I sort of do, but other than that doesn't have much use as far as hirability. I don't know. I want so much better than what I've got, and I'm trying to figure out some way of getting there.

There's a lot going on w/ all of my friends right now too. I'm trying to just ride the waves more than anything else, as that's about the best I can do. LOL.

Then, of course, there's the Prop 8 stuff. Many people have said it way better than I could, so I won't say anything beyond it hurts, it sucks, I'm ashamed of my state, and I'm going to continue to fight it any/all ways I can.

BLAH. Anyway. The rest of my day is gonna consist of going to the DMV, eating brownies, watching the tv show Weeds, walking my dog, and watching some of the Planet Earth documentaries.

How goes, everyone? Good, I hope. Any plans for the weekend? I've got a HUGE one ahead--my friend Christi is graduating, so we'll be partying hardy all day tomorrow to celebrate, including going to an exclusive club called Magic Castle; Sunday is my girl Natalie's birthday, so I'm going down to Long Beach to celebrate with her. :) Should be great, awesome times.

This week was kinda crazy--all of my shows have concluded for the season as of last night! D: Whatever will I dooooooooo. J/K I have plenty to watch still. I'm excited for all of my shows to return next year. Mostly everything was kinda humdrum imo, with a few exceptions, so I'm hoping that next season will be better. Honestly, I think everyone was still recovering from the writer's strike and all. *Shrug*

OH I have a few memes to answer; I'll probably get to those Monday, for anyone awaiting responses. :>

*Flounces off to read some fic for the next couple hours, 'til it's time to get her hair cut*

Whew, it's been kinda crazy the last few days between work and life; lol that won't be changing anytime soon. Lots going on. I've managed to see Star Trek twice (I could do with a few more viewings, omgomg). Work's going okay. Mood's been a bit wonky but overall decent. Most of my free time has been spent re-watching Buffy, which is awesome. I've been reading a lot of Kirk/Spock too, not gonna lie. :>

Anyway. How are you, flist?
